Lethbridge Herald (Newspaper) - March 9, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta PAGE 8 Purple Playhouse turns to comedy Sunday Paul Harding plays a world-weary English aristocrat in the third Purple Playhouse production "Used Up," (Sunday March 11 at 9:00 p.m.) a comedy by Dion Boucicault in the tradition of the French farce. As Sir Charles Colstream, he's a wealthy bachelor who's tried just about everything in life and is now terribly bored by the whole thing - "used up at 33," as be puts it When his friends propose various remedies for his ennui be tells them be exhausted everything life had to offer before he was 30. But, as one of his friends points out. he's still a bachelor - what about marriage as a diversion? A sportsman to the core, Sir Charles vows to marry the first woman to cross his path. This happens to be Lady Clut-terbuck, a beautiful young widow. But in pursuit of mar- riage Sir Charles finds himself tossed about in a storm of mistaken identity, the wrath of an irate husband, and the duplicity of treacherous friends. Eventually he wins through and finds his happiness with bis true love Mary, the farmer's daughter. Patricia Collins plays Mary, Dawn Greenhalgh is Lady Clut-terbuck and others in the cast include Hugh Webster as Farmer Wurzel, Leslie Yec as Iron- brace, Lady Clutterbuck's first husband, and Chris Wiggins and Colin Fox as Sir Charles's friends. Drew Thompson plays Parker the butler and Gillie Fenwick is Fennel the family lawyer.
