TO ENFORCE ACT Police Given Instructions by the Attorney General. The Dominion Lord's Day Act of 1900 went into force on March 1st. The enforcement of the Act remains with tho various provincial governments. No action or prosecution shall be commenced without the con sent of the attorney general. In connection with this' matter rremler Rutherford stated todaythat the government of Alberta would' enforce tho Act. The attorney general's position in tho matter is stated in tho follow  ing I. Further, the attornoy general has sent tho following letter v to all of tho police olHcors in the provinco, which speaks for itself: "I desire to dlrert your attention to tho Domioion Lord's Day Act, being chapter 37 of tho Acts of the Parliament of Canada of lfcOG. and also to chapter 01 of The Conso.l-datod Ordinancee of tho North-West Territories concerning tho profana -tlon of tho Lord's Day; You will observe that by soctlon 13 of the Dominion Lord's Day Act it is 'providod that 'no action or prosecution for a violation of this Act shall be commenced without the leave of tho attorney goneral for the provinco in which the offence is alleged to havo been committed, nor aflor the expiration of sixty days from tho time of the commission of tho alleged offence." "As this Act came into effect on Mutch 1, ,1 havo thought it well to inform you that if you will call my atteution to any violation of tho statute which comes under your notice, and furnish mo with toe particulars ot such violation, I shall give the same immediate attention. I' feel that I can rely with confidence upon you, and upon other officials in your community who have to do with the administration of the law, to take tho accessary steps t6 prevent an infringement of Its provls  Jons.
