Deputy Minister of Highways ft Transport M18 Sharp not subsidizing revolution HeraM Ottawa Bureau OTTAWA The Canadian government has no intention of subsidizing domestic or foreign revolutionaries. External Affairs Minister Mitchell Sharp assured the Commons Tuesday. The question was raised by Steve Paproski He suggested that Mr. Sharp bring before the House the en- tire question of the government making funds available through the Canadian International De- velopment Agency (CIDA) to groups dedicated to violence on the African continent. He urged the minister to seek the approval of Parliament before implementing such a policy. Mr. Sharp said during the parliamentary recess he had issued a statement making it clear that no grants have been made for any such purpose. St. Andrew's United Church was filled to overflowing with friends and relatives who attended funeral services for William Schmidt, who passed away February 24th, 1974. Bill was born in Minton, Saskatchewan and came to Alberta in the early "50's moving to Cardston in 1960. He worked for Brinkernoff Drilling Company until going into his own construction business in 1966. He was an active worker in the Cub and Scout movement and member of the Canadian Legion and a devoted worker for minor hockey. Hie affection and esteem in which be was held was evident by the number of young people who came to pay their last respects. The Rev. James Ruxtcn and Father Tony Duhaine officiated. Interment was in the Cardston Cemetery. He was predeceased by three brothers. He is survived by his. wife Verla: three sons, Lorry, Timothy and Gregory; three daughters. Sherri.
