(AP) The Bob Johnson family spends much of Us time gathered around pianos, not to sing but to take them apart. They rebuild player pianos and use the insides of some to put together nickelodeons. "We can sell all we can build, but there isn't much profit it's more a labor of said 37-year-old Johnson whose main income is from playing the banjo and organ as a professional. Ph. 327-7244 Lethbridge His piano plant, an out- growth from his days as a piano tuner a dozen years ago, is in the basement of the Johnson home. Getting old pianos into the workshop is no problem. There is a freight elevator. Repairing valves and bellows, installing glass front panels of flowery designs and rebuilding keyboard and music-roll components are just a few jobs tackled by Johnson's wife Lorrie, 35, and children Gregory, David, Denny and Krissy. They range in age frorr 13 to 16. Johnson said "the populari- ty of player pianos peaked around 1918 and began walling when the phonograph and radio came said Johnson. LONDON (AP) Denis Goodwin, 44, a former gag writer for Bob Hope, has been found dead at his London, apartment, police said Friday. Police said a note was found Thursday near Goodwin's body and that there was no suspicion of foul play. Goodwin was considered one of Britain's top comedy script writers for television and radio. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Arthur Fieldler, Boston Pops symphony con- ductor, says he talked his son out of a career in music rock and roll music, that is. "I told him if they were as good as the. The conductor, who often uses contemporary music and musicians in his Boston Pops concerts, said his son Peter, in his early 20s, now is interested in communications as a career. NEW YORK (AP) Albert Webster, general manager of the Cincinnati Symphony, was appointed managing director of the New York Philhar- monic, an announcement said Friday. Carlos Moseley, president of the New York Philhar- monic'- Symphony Society, said the appointment is effec- tive in July, 1975- Webster was assistant manager of the Philharmonic from 1965 to 1971.
