A decision on how many ad- ditional kindergarten classes the board is prepared to open with its own funds will be made at the beginning of April when the budget is approved. The board now operates 18 kin- dergarten classes. The program would be avail- able to the approximately kindergarten-aged children of public school supporters in the city, but would not be compul- sory. It would prepare the stu- dents for entry into Grade 1. Vancouver In front of a night- club in the city's Gastown area, a popular tourist spot. Police had turned to televis- ion in an effort to crack the case, which had stymied them for months. The shooting took place July in front of the now-defuncl Gassy Jack's club. A man had entered the club and was later ejected when a waitress spot- led a rifle under his coat. Tbe man left and a group ol people, with Martin among them, ran out on the streei after him. The armed man a ser- ies of shols and Martin fell to the ground, fatally wounded. When the program was b2inj prepared, CBC producer Tony Gilbert said the idea came from CFAC-TV in Calgary which had shown three drama tizations of crimes in that city The shows had resulted two arrests and new informa tioa about the thircl crime. The dramatization, usinj some of the police who were on the scene the night of the shooiing, didn't show the arm ed man's face, but did portray the clothes he was wearing the sequence of events leadin, to the shooting, as they wen recoMected by witnesses.
