The impeachment special is a co production in which the CBC is associated with the public affairs division of the Public Broadcasting System in the U.S., and the British Broadcasting Corporation. The production is directed by a Canadian, Alvin Rakoff, a freelance director working with the BBC. The Impeachment of Andrew Johnson was videotaped on location earlier .this month in the old North Carolina State Senate legislative chambers in Raleigh, N.C. Since cameras are not permitted in the U.S. Senate chambers, where the trial of Johnson actually took place, the North Carolina legislature was chosen because of its similarity in architectural style and appearance.
