Needham; whose special delight is to tell good things of Island, brought to the Herald office samples of spring wheat and winter rye that do not indicate any short crop in that vicinity. Mr. Needham took the wheat from a 200 acre field he has. This whole Held and several others he and other people have are just as good as the sample. This spring wheat stands thirty inches high and is headed, out with tfine long heads. The rye is.from 36 to 40 inces high and is also headed out nicely. Both are a good healthy color and the straw is strong. Mr. Needham says that around Bow Island the crop will average from half to three quarters of a crop accord- ing to the weather from now until harvest.
