Thomson slams U.S. papers over Watergate SALT LAKE CITY. Utah (AP) Lord Thomson of Fleet says it's unfair for newspapers to try President Nixon in the press. Lord Thomson, who owns 191 newspapers in Britain, Canada and the United States, said Brit- ain has severe libel laws and "this could never happen in England." Thomson and his son, Ken- nedy, are spending several days in the Salt Lake area sight- seeing, visiting officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat- ter-day Saints and attending a church conference.
