Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - June 25, 1970, Lethbridge, Alberta FACE 10 Highway Traffic Flows Into City By RIG' SWIHART Herald Stuff Writer Highway traffic flows into Lcthbridge from all directions, on modern paved roads. Highway 3 east, is a four-lane divided road to Coaldale, a modern two-lane highway with paved shoulders to nine miles east of Taber and narrow but in good condition to (lie Trans Canada Highway at Medicine Hat. Highway 3 west is four-lane and divided for three miles and present construction to Monarch is expected to be completed by ihe fall. Highway 3 from Monarch to Fort Macleod is in fair condi- tion with gravelled shoulders and from Fort Macleod to Burmis, a modern two-lane highway with paved shoulders. From Burmis to the British No Sliortace o Of Information Tourist information on Alber- ta, besides being available throughout the province through the Alberta Govern- ment Travel bureau and other agencies, is also available in many centres throughout the world. In Great Britain, information can be obtained through Alber- ta House, 37 Hill Street, Lon- don Wl, England. Canadian Government offices also work in conjunction with offices in such places as Tokyo, Frankfurt, Sydney and Seattle. Columbia bonier the highway is narrow with numerous curves and a fair surface. Highway 2 south from Fort Macleod to Cardston is narrow but in good condition and from Cardston to Carvvay, the U.S. border point, is narrow and hilly with the pavement surface in fair condition. Highway 2 north from Fort Macleod is a modern two-lane highway with paved shoulders. Highway 23 north is a good two-lane paved road with wide shoulders. From Champion to High River it is modern, two- laned, with wide paved sliould- ers. Highway 25 north is a good two lancd road with paved shoulders. Highway 36 north from Taber to Bi'odks is a goad two-lancd highway with paved shoulders. Highway 5 south from Leth- bridge will have the final appli- cation of pavement late this summer. The base course has rough sections. From Welling to Magrath it is a modern two- lane road with paved shoulders. From Magrath to Waterton Lakes National Park the sur- face is good but narrow. Highway 4 south is a modern two-lane highway with paved shoulders.
