Jane Fonda is a busy woman in her involvement in social causes. Thirty-two years old, her fea- tures delicately reminiscent of her father's, she sat on a daven- port, drank grapejuicc and spoke in soft, rapid bursts. this the feel very strong that revolution is an act of love. It'; a very natural and necessary part of life. It's like growhr it sad? Children arc so alive and awake and they lis ten and see and touch and expe- rience so fully. Then they grow up and become dead. They've stopped changing, they're de- cided 'this is what I and that's death. Tilings should be in perpetual change." WHILE IN EUROPE Miss Fonda said she decided to get "involved" while living in Europe. Before that, sba was a Vassal- student for two years, Lef Bank d'.reller in Paris, Actors Studio pupil, then actress of sucli films as Tall Story, Walk on the Wild Side and The Chap- man Report. Her nude or near- ly nude image appeared in the movie Barbarella and a maga- zine or two. She married French director Roger Vadim. Of reports that tliev are separated, she said now: "It's nobody's business. AH I can say is that we are friends, which is more than I can say for most married peo- ple." "Do you consider it a normal, natural, healthy thing that there are people who are dying from starvation, who cannot get work in this country, which is so rich? 'Is it radical to want to change that? Is it radical to want everyone to be able to )articipate in the richness of ;his land? I think it's most nor- mal to try to give this to peo- ple as an of love." PARAMOUNT THEATRE Man Called Horse- Short Last Complete COLLEGE CINEMA "Johnny Short Last Compete GREEN ACRES DRIVE-IN "How To Commit Mar- "Whatever Happened To Aunt One Complete NIAGARA ON THE-LAKE Ont. (CP) The Shaw Festival sened its ninth season here a production of George ernard Shaw's Candida that ose above any production or erformance faults by being [me to the author's intentions. A capacity audience of nearly 00 saw the start of the produc- ion's five-week run at the Court House Theatre in this town, ibout 10 miles north of Niagara Falls. There was the usual first- night fashion parade, with men in maxi-garb and silk jump uits, attracting as much atten- ion as women in see-through pant suits and peek-a-boo bra- ess mini-, midi-, and maxi-ar- 'angemenls. But the play was the thing md tire opening-night produc- tion had no difficulty in keeping Ms maxim to the forefront. Direct or.Harris Yulin, in visely letting his actors speak or Shaw and not attempting to mpose his own personal inter- pretation of the playwright, jrought out all the wit, humor and topicality that exist in the play. 'LAY TOPICAL For Candida is topical in therne and characters, even jiough they were conceived 75 years ago. The generation gap and the poetic outbursts of youth against the preachings of the Establishment need no forced allusions or updating. The play revolves around a teen-age poet's love for the 33 year-old Candida, a Church o England minister's Vfife, am the choice forced upon her when he confesses Ms love to her bus band.
