Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - June 15, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta 36 hours of programming planned Extensive coverage for Royal Visit TORONTO (CBC) The Canadian Broadcasting Corpor- ation has announced that its This is the Law cast signs up for new season The entire oast of last sea- son's This Is The Law series has signed contracts for the up- coming fall winter season on CBC television, TITL produear Nigel Napier-Andrews has an- nounced. The show's comic Lawbreak- er Paul Soles, policeman Rob- ert Warner phis moderator Austin Willis and pane'ists Hart Pomerantz, Larry Solway, Bill Charlton and Susan Keller have all placed their John Henrys on the dotted line and the show will remain essentially the same in format for 1973-74. This Is The Law has become a solid success in Canada's television variety program- ming. Its audience usually numbers more than two million each week. French and English Radio and TV Networks will carry a com- bined total of 36 hours of pro- gramming over and above straight news coverage of the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip to Canada June 25 July 5. Additionally, Radio Canada International will broadcast highlights and news coverage of the visit in 11 languages around the world. CBC Radio and TV coverage, most of which will be done live, begins with the State Ar- rival of the Queen and Prince at Toronto International Air- port June 25. "Twenty of our key produc- tion, technical and administra- tive people will travel to stops on the visit where there is ma- jor live coverage, and they will be supplemented by production crews from the closest CBC re- gion." Wilf Fielding, veteran pro- ducer of special events pro- grams such as past royal tours, the investiture of Charles as Prince of Wales and Olympic Games in Mexico for CBC-TV, is executive pro- ducer of electronic coverage, Francois Peladeau is co-ordina- tor of French TV coverage with Jean Guy Landry as supervis- ing producer; Jean Claude Asselin for French Radio with Andre Hurtubise as producer; Del MacKenzie for English Ra- dio; and Axel Thogersen for Radio-Canada International, Charles Kirkman of the CBC's engineering headquar- ters in Montreal is technical co-ordinator for the visit.
