Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - June 13, 1974, Lethbridge, Alberta Tliursday, June 13, 1974 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD 21 Computer to handle baggage MONTREAL (CP) Air Ciinada announced Wednesday that effective this month the airline is linking up with a computerized baggage-retrieval system, currently used by six other airlines and operated by East- ern Airlines in the United States Baggage agents will be able to enter into the computer all possible information about any single piece of luggage that is not claimed or piece of luggage reported missing The computer will match them up speeding up the handling of misrouted luggage The company said it is hoped this system will cut down on unintentional baggage switches as well as theft and pilferage Supply shortage indicated Cost of new bicycles to increase TORONTO (CP) Prospective bicycle buyers may be faced with higher prices and a shortage of supply this summer as bicycle dealers report higher import duties factory price in- creases a shortage of high- quahty bicycles, and increased demand for their products A tariff reduction to 15 per cent from 25 per cent on im- ported bicycles and parts passed a year ago by the fed- eral government expires this month and will likely raise bi- cycle prices by at least 10 per cent, bicycle dealers say Price increases at the factory level also will cause the retail cost of birycles to rise they say Peter Kent manager ol Bloor Cycle and Sports Ltd Toronto's largest bicycle retailer, says other European factories may follow the example of one French manufacturer who has raised prices eight per cent in the last few weeks But he said sales have shown a healthy in- crease from last year A Vancouver dealer Lome Atkinson of Ace Cycle Shop, says he expects similar in- creases "anytime now but reports that sales have been up Andy Kranack owner of Amherst Bicycle Clinic in Amherst.
