Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - June 9, 1970, Lethbridge, Alberta IS THE IETHBRIDGE HEKA1.D Tuesday, Juno 1, 1970 ers DEAR ANN LANDERS: I am a parent who is sick am tired of readme articles en "How To Get Along With You Teen agei h son lone would write an article on "How To Get Along With Your Parents." Here are a few suggestions for openers: If'Mom and Dad are short tempered and unpleasant try using a few obsolete phrases such as, "What can I do to "Yes, I'd be happy to." Another one is, "Thank you." When the phone rings or there is a knack at the door don't play like you arc deaf. Get off your duff and sec who it is even though an ablcbodicd adult is right ii the same room. Offer to do a favor for your old beat-up mother like hang up your clothes, clean the bathtub after you've used it or straighten up your room. Be polite. When your parents turn on a Glenn Miller record and start to dance don't fall on the floor laughing Show some respect. After all, folks in their 40's and 50's don't know better. It's the way they used to dance in the olden days. This is a plea for tolerance and understanding, kids. Give us old fogies a break. We need it. Dear 1918: That's my year, too. Thanks for speaking in beh-.lf of us museum pieces. It's high time somebody gave us an assist. DEAR ANN LANDERS: A certain girl in our crowd tlu'nks she is you. All of a sudden she remembered her middle name is Ann'and she wants everyone to call her that. She gives advice to everybody whether they ask for it or not. She even tries to talk like you but it doesn't come off. She sounds ridiculous. Last week she started to comb her hair like yours. How do you feel about this? P.S. She is H years old. Huron DEAR PORT: Flattered. f- DEAR ANN LANDERS: Our son's wife is a talented art student. She has painted a large portrait of our son in the nude. It now hangs in their living room. I have seen nudes hanging in other homes, but not in the living never of a member of the family. The painting is very life-like and it makes me uncomfortable. Have you ever been ask- ed this question At Ease DEAK ILL: This I've had something similar, however. The painting was of the wife but it was hanging !n the bedroom. Great art is great art anywhtere, but a student's "very life-like" nude painting of her husband does not sound like great art to me. LADIES' AUXILIARY CANADIAN LEGION Air Conditioned Memorial Hall
