Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - July 31, 1971, Lethbridge, Alberta Stage show wins raves LONDON (CP-AP) Jerome Kern's 1927 stage musical Show Boat opened at London's Adcl- phi theatre in a revival that won raves from reviewers to- day. The critics agreed it's likely to stay at anchor here for years. Jazz singer Cleo Laine, as the mulatto girl Julie, stopped the show with her songs, Can't Help Lovin' that Man, and Bill. U.S. soprano Lorna Dallas, Ca nadian Andre Jpbin and Puerto Rican dancer Miguel Godreau. Jobin is a son of 65-year-old Raoul Jobin, who was born in Quebec City but has made Paris bis base since the 1930s. Andre also was born in Quebec but was brought up in France. He made his debut with a Paris company in 1955 and has since become a leading star in France. Saturday, July 31, 1971 THE IETHBRIDGE HMALD 7 Dance tutor dies after attack NEW YORK (AP) Maria Nevelska, Hussian-born ballet instructor and onetime per- former with the Bolshoi Ballet, died in hospital here two days after she was attacked in her studio at Carnegie Hall, police said. She was 30. Police said the petite dance coach, who had taught here since 1953, was attacked in her studio by an unknown man, a few hours before she was to conduct a class.
