During the mul- tiplying each parent worm may lay a couple of eggs every two weeks. The amazing thing is that both the parents lay eggs. For in the world of each parent is both a mother and a father. This means that they multiply twice as fast as you would expect. When you want rabbits to you must be sure to start out with a male and a female. The House of Capet was then replaced by that of Orleans and the Duke of ruled until the revolution of 1848. His descendants have since been the official claimants to the French throne. 1909 Orville Wright es- tablished a world record for flight when he and a passenger remained aloft for one one minute and 40 seconds. 1953 The Korean War end- ed with the signing of ar- mistice at Panmunjom. 1954 Britain and Egypt signed an agreement ending 72 years of British military oc- cupation of the Suez canal. 1955 Austria regained her independence. 1960 Canadian army units were formed for service in the Congo on behalf of the United Nations. earthworms to this is not necessary. Any two will do because each one is both a male and a female. The little ones are not brought up as a family. In the youngsters never know who their parents were. Usually the neighboring parents meet and mate on a mild spring evening. They crawl part way out of their burrows and the upper parts of their bodies lie side by side for several hours. During this time they exchange male and female life cells. When they each worm is a father and each worm is ready to lay a batch of eggs. Part way down the body of each worm is a palish circle called the saddle. This swollen ring creates the cocoon to warp the tiny eggs. There may be several but usually only two of them are hatchable. As the eggs the cocoon case leaves the saddle and slides along the worm's toward the head. After about two the egg case slides off over the parent's head. The sides snap shut and the cocoon is left on the looking like a mini-brown paper bag. At about the same the other worm parent leaves a package of twin eggs somewhere else on the ground. After the parents pay no more attention to their offspring at all. Earthworms enjoy life best the weather is fairly warm and fairly moist. Dur- ing a mild spring or the eggs may hatch in a couple of weeks. In very hot or very cold dry weather they do not hatch until things improve. The bitsy babies that hatch from the tiny eggs are on their and life is very risky. But they soon learn to burrow below. After another six some of them will be ready to lay eggs of their own. Earthworms are very useful in farms and gardens and nowadays many young per- sons breed them in earthworm farms. In an earthworm things are kept just right so that the worms all through the year. After a parents may produce egg capsules that hatch to become a million baby worms. Questions asked by chil- dren of Herald readers should be mailed to Ask P.O. Box. Huntington California 92648. Lawrence Lamb M.D. Dear Dr. Lamb What affect does alcohol have on angina Dear Reader Angina pectoris is chest pain or discomfort of very short duration from heart disease. If that's really the it should last less than 10 it's something else. In -the doctors sometimes advocated using alcohol to relieve angina pectoris or heart pain and thought that it increased the blood flow to the heart muscle. With the ability to study the blood flow to the heart muscle and the various aspects of the circulation in it has been adequately demonstrated that alcohol does not increase the blood flow to heart muscle. In individuals who have serious heart disease may have decreased heart function even after drinking amounts of alcohol. About the only advantage of alcohol in a heart patient is its sedative action or tranquilizing and this can be achieved by a number of medications without running the risk of developing an alcohol habit. In alcohol is not a useful treatment for angina pectoris. WA5 VJX3ING HERE EXCUSE ME NAME CHARLIE ANP...
