This week let's talk about automatic and adjustable cameras. Here are a lew tips that will help you get the best picture with your automatic camera. Have the sun shining on the of your subject it you can. Make sure the sun doesn't hit's lens or exposure meter. On overcast days you might try to exclude the sky Irom your A gray sky isn't thai pretty and it's usually so much brighter than your subject that it W'll cause the subject to be too Try not to have your subject partly in sunlight and partly in shade. The brightness range is too great and you can't get good exposure ol both areas at the same time. II avoid light subjects in very dark surroundings and vice-versa. II you do take such move In closer to your subject so as to eliminate as much background as you can. Always be sure that your lens and meler window are not obstructed in any way. Most automatic cameras have a low-light indicator that's signals when it's too dark for a properly exposed picture. If such signal appears you can believe it. Don't take the picture unless it's an extraordinary shot that's worth the gamble. And now. what about the adjustable Use the information sheet that comes with every film as your bible. Find the lighting situation for your particular scene on the information sheet and set your camera at the recommended shutter speed which in most cases is marked 30. 125 and 250. These numbers indicate fractions of a second and mean and of a second. Use the same guide to set the f- numbers on the camera lens mount. These indicate the size o1 the lens opening on your camera. This is what helps you to lake properly exposed pictures by controlling the amount of light that reaches the film. I've given you a lot to digest this week.
