The industrial index was up .0-1 to 200.29 and base metals .07 lo 91.35. Golds were down 2.01 to 219.45 and western oiJs 1.41 lo 232.21. Volume by II a.m. was 587.000 shares, up from Monday. Declines led gains 122 lo 70 with JOO issues unchajjged. Banking, chemical, oil refin- ing, general manufacturing and food processing slocks moved higher while beverage, commu- nication and real estate issues drilled moderately lower. Trading resumed in Hie shares of Occidental Pete fol- lowing a brief delay at the open- ing due to an influx of orders. The company announced it will hold a news conference laler today in London, England. The stock was up lo S151it. Falconbridge rose 1 to S5G. Royal Bank to Stein- berg's A if, to S26.
