Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - July 17, 1970, Lethbridge, Alberta Wf UTHMIBOI HMAIP 30 MISCELLANEOUS ADTirlFC Mdejy, July 17, 58 MALI HELP SERVICES AND BUSINESS I Births, Deat 1 Cards- Oj 1 In Men BIRTHS KING A baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam King, July 0, 19TO. hs, Funerals, 1 f Thanks, j CARD OF THANKS HART We wish to thank Flies Home By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt flew home from Moscow today after extended talks on the Middle East situation with the men in the Kremlin. It was believed in Moscow that the Egyptian president' and his hosts worked out their response to the new United States peace proposals for the Middle East. But no word of what they decided has leaked out. Soviet military aid to Egypt also was certainly discussed. Nasser was in die Soviet capital for 19 days and is believed to have undergone a medical checkup during his stay. Results of this also have not been made public. Meanwhile, a U.S. Air Force mission was winding up a two-day visit to Israel. The visit was. described officially as a fact-finding tour, but disclosure of it-heightened speculation that the Nixon administration is planning some sort of gesture as a partial counter to the growing Soviet involvement in Egypt. The visiting mission is from the Ah- Force Strike Command and is headed by the command's deputy chief, Lt.-Gen. James Edmundson. The U.S. embassy said the mission is on a biennial study tour of the Middle East. There was more military action on Israel's frontier with Lebanon, which Israeli troops crossed before dawn Thursday for a reprisal raid dining which they blew up three buildings in a frontier village. Prices Clampdown Pressed LONDON (AP) -The British government moved swiftly today to stop food prices soaring in the wake of the national dock strike. Agriculture Minister James Prior summoned an urgent meeting for today with Britain's top food wholesalers and retailers. He was expected to tell them that prices must be kept undep control, that there must be no attempts to profit from the strike by increasing costs unnecessarily and that the government will not hesitate to clamp a ceiling on prices if required. The government is convinced that there is no immediate reason for prices to rise. Stocks of food are ample for at least a week or 10 days, it said. Nevertheless some prices have risen sharply since the country's longshoremen began Thursday their first nationwide strike in 44 years, closing 40 major ports and severing Britain's trading lifelines with the rest of the world.
