Former bandleader dies TORONTO Allan D. a former orchestra leader whose last engagement was on the cruise ship Noronic the night it burned in Toronto died here Sunday. Mr. Linton escaped from the burning Great Lakes cruise ship Sept. by sliding down a flagpole onto a small cabin cruiser anchored nearby and then jumping to the dock. But 139 persons were killed. He never fully recovered from the shock of the tragedy afflicted with he eventually became blind. A he led the Al Linton Orchestra for more than two playing in at Muskoka hotels north of here and on Great Lakes cruise ships.
