Part of the money was spent on the purchase of a powered catamaran and the modification of equipment to iniect chemicals into the lake. The chemicals, purchased from Europe, are not harmful to the fish in the lake or hu- mans, says Bill Brown, parks superintendent. Destroying of weeds in var- ious parts of the lake im- proves the fish habitat and is beneficial for the rainbow trout and perch which inhabit the artificial lake, said Mr. Brown. Besides the trout and perch in the lake, there are a few suckers and there could be some goldifsh and pike. The lake is regularly stocked with trout fingerlings. The chemicals are injected into the lake rather than being sprayed, said Mr. Brown., Its effsctiveness can be noticed within one to three weeks.
