The East Kootenay zoning map required under the controversial provin- cial Land Act of 1972 has reached the final stage of preparation. The Regional District of East Kootenay was allowed to prepare its own map after rejecting the provincially prepared map. The move was a concession to its moun- tain geography and mosaic of established land use. In the map will lock designated uses shown on the map nearly permanently. Changes are subject to long and complicated appeals to the B.C. Land Com- mission. In the all designated agricultural land has been prohibited for any other use. Coleman .program COLEMAN The Coleman recreation office has prepared a program of activities tor youngsters aged four and older. No fee is charged but all children taking part must be registered with the recreation located in the town hall The program for children four to eight is held Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. It will include nature bus trips to places of campfires and songs. The 9 to 12 year old group meets from 9 a.m. to 12 noun Monday through Friday and the program includes nature study and bus trips and advanced crafts. The teen program provides an opportunity to learn new skills and develop new interest in a variety of activities Activities will be planned by the groups themselves in co-operation with a recreation leader. Band to travel BLAIRMORE The Crowsnest Con- solidated High School with assistance from the Band Booster Club and some has raised to send the band to Expo in Spokane. A house-to-house blitz was conducted through the Crowsnest Pass recently and those who donated and assisted with the canvass made the trip for the 70 students possible. Mr Mangold has announced practise will be held regularly during the summer with the next being on Moncidv July 8 at 7 p.m and each Monday thereafter. Gets school awards COUTTS Debbie Barrows received the Catholic Women's League award for highest Grade 9 achievement. It was presented at the recent Coutts School awards day. School awards in arithmetic went to Michelle Harry Diana James Lisowski. Dennie Cindy Dorothy Bernadme Graham and Kathy Dangerfield. Spelling awards went to John Paul Wollershiem. Doug Lynn Judy Ross Shelley Tanya Francme Graham and Liz Lisowski. Progress awards were won by Jeff Robin Betts. Lorraine Hope Joanne Glen Doug Colene McPhillips and Alastair Mills. Track and field awards were won by Doug Hulit. Maria Thielen. James Noreen Gaits and D'arcy Dianchi.
