U.S. living costs still on increase WASHINGTON (AP) - The cost of living in the United States rose again in December, wiping out another half  cent from every dollar and winding up 1970 as the second-worst inflationary year in two decades, Ottawa weekly livestock report the government reported Friday. The rise of five-tenths of one per cent in living costs last month, up from a three-tenths rise a month before, was largely due to higher costs of housing services, medical care, food and automobiles. The report brought the total OTTAWA (CP) - Cattle deliveries at the 10 public stockyards this week totalled 23,500 head, about 1,500 fewer than last week and 4,000 below the corresponding week a year 50. exports of beef cattle to the United States last week totalled only 198 head, and were all slaughter cattle over 700 pounds. Despite reduced cattle deliveries this week, trading was uneven throughout. Steer prices varied from $1 higher to 75 cents lower during the week, and heifers from 25 cents higher to 50 cents lower. Cows varied from 50 cents higher to $1.50 lower and bulls were generally unchanged. Feeder cattle and stock calves were mainly steady. Veal and butcher calves were in limited supply at mainly steady prices. Hog prices were steady and good lambs steady to $3 higher. Choice steers: Montreal 32.50 to 34.50; Toronto 32.50 to 33; Winnipeg 31 to 32; Saskatoon 30.50 to 32; Edmonton 31.50 to 32.30; Calgary 31.50 to 33.10.
