8 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD Wednesday, January 29, 1975 Alberta rural councillors seek pensions EDMONTON (CP) -Rural government politicians from central Alberta want the provincial government to pen- sion them off after they leave public office. The request came Tuesday from the Edmonton Union of Municipal Districts and Coun- ties, representing about 30 rural governments in central Alberta. John Cherwoniak, a 17 year councillor with the Coun- ty of Smoky Lake, says that if federal MPs and provincial ML As get pensions, then municipal councillors should too. He says the request has been made to the provincial government several times without response. Retired Alberta MLAs are eligible after age 60 for a pen- sion of a year after eight consecutive years or two terms in office. Plea reserved EDMONTON (CP) A former executive with the Albert; Housing Corporation, Robert Bohdan Orysuik, reserved election and plea in provincial court yesterday and was remanded to March 10.
