Employ your LAWRENCE E. LAMB, M. D. Skipped heart beat is fairly common Dear Dr. Lamb I am a 38- year-old woman who developed a heart beat irregularity last month. I could best describe il as a skipped beat, followed by a very hard thump. This occurs mor or less constantly through- out the day, although some- times it does not occur for sev- eral hours. My doctor did a heart trac- ing last month but while I was "hooked up" there was no thump. He says the problem is most likely insignificant and not to worry but I continue to feel the thumping and it can be very upsetting. Should I continue as I am and "try to forget or would I Voice boxes technique tested CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) A University of Cincinnati sur- geon is developing a procedure to rebuild voice boxes for pa- tients who have had them re- moved, using the patient's own tissue. "It is not enough to remove the said Dr. Donald Shumrick, a professor special- izing in ear and throat diseases and in jaw surgery. Shumrick said restoration of the voice is one of the obvious benefits of this new surgical procedure. The procedure has been completed with dogs and Shumrak now is performing a series of operations on ba- boons. "If it Works on baboons, it should work in Shumrick said at his laboratory at Christ Hospital. Shumrick noted there had been no significant develop- ments for surgically treating patients who had their larynx removed.
