Deputy Minister, Department ot Highways and Transport J49 B.C. reviews energy with Wash. State VICTORIA (CP) - Bnüsh Columbia hopes for a “fnendly, wide-ranging discussion" of energy matters when legislators from Washington State meet B.C cabinet ministers here Friday, Attorney-General Alex Macdonald said Wednesday “We'll be discussin everything from pricing of B C natural resources . to conservation of our supplies with as much mutual cooperation as we can manage,” he said in an interview The attorney-general described the meeting as mainly an exchange of views Indians strengthen protest BUFFALO NARROWS. Sask. (CP) — Another 50 Indians and Metis joined a sit-in of 2S natives at the diriment of northern Saskatchewan (DNS) office Friday eveniog. In nearby La Loche, 2S5 miles northwest of Prince Albert, 13 more natives were sitting-in at DNS offices. The government had cut off power and phone service to both offices. The protestors issued three demands late Friday: that a permanent welfare worker be stationed at La Loche, a worker be sent from Buffalo Narrows lo review cases in the interim and the current welfare field worker at La Loche be replaced by one elected by the people. Doug Schweitzer, assistant deputy minister of DNS, replied that a permanent office will be reviewed next week by three staff workers and an investigation wilt be made into the work of the field workers at La Loche Three of tlie five members of the northern municipal council, which governs the north much as a town council would in a more populated area, have voiced support for the sit-ins at the DNS offices. Rod Derochers, the Metis Society member of the council, said lack of economic development in most areas means there is no alternative to welfare in the north and in most cases welfare has not kept up to the cost of living. He charged DNS Minister Ted Bowerman with incompetence. sa;png most of the DNS budget is eaten up in administrative costs. Alex McDougall, vice-president of the Metis Society, said the protest could spread throughout northern Saskatchewan. Windshield solutions ‘dangerous’ OTTAWA (CP) - Most of the popular brands of windshield washer anti-freeze solutions on the market impair visibility to a dangerous degree, a test by the Consumers’ Association of Canada shows. The association tested 19 brands of solutions—mixtures of methyl alcohol or propanol with coloring and detergent added. Fourteen were judged unacceptable as they tended to smear more than 10 per cent of the wiper surface area in cold temperatures. “The five acceptable ones were the best of a bad bunch,” Nadine Levin of the association’s testing department said in an interview Friday. The association has asked the federal consumer affairs, department to put windshield washer solution under the Hazardous Products Act. It is urging the department to develop standards by Sept, 1, to prevent inadequate products from reaching the market before next winter ■    Any windshield washer antifreeze which smears more than 10 per cent of the wiper surface area may be violating , provincial laws, she said ■    Until standards are established there is no way consumers can tell whether the solution they buy is acceptable or safe NOTICE TOCUSSIHEDAinEIITBflB For your convenience, The Herald’s Classified phone line (Dial 328-4411) is open from 8:00 A.M.to 8:00 P.M.
