The Greenwood, Miss., resident was arrested last September while driving to New Orleans allegedly with a time bomb and numerous weapons in his car. Political involvement suggested EDMONTON (CP) -Younger lawyers should become more involved in partisan politics, says a newly-sworn judge of the Alberta Supreme Court. . Mr. Justice David C. McDonald of Edmonton made the comment at the conclusion of his swearing in as justice of the court’s trial division. Mr. Justice McDonald, who was president of the Liberal Association of Alberta from 1965 to 1967 and who has been the party’s provincial policy chairman, told the people attending the swearing in ceremony that he would miss the pditical world. After the ceremony, he said he thou^t within the last 10 years, fewer of the younger lawyers than before had become involved in politics. Perhaps part of the reason was a heavier work load that gave them less time for oUier activities. Many law students, he said, are interested in social concerns such as legal aid clinics and their interests now may be focused on providing legal services to a wider branch of the public. But many of the law students did not seem interested in the political party clubs on the university campus. Involvement in these organizations was popular 10 to 20 years ago. Some of the public are cynical about why lawyers become involved in politics, he said, but “if there is cynicism, it’s a misplaced cynicism". “The vast majority {of lawyers) never expect a tangible reward.” The political process, he said, is too important not to become involved with it. Small car buyer’s may have wait TORONTO (CP) - Canadian automakers say buyers of small cars in Canada may have to wait up to two months for customer-ordered vehicles. A spokesman for General Motors of Canada Ltd. said today the delivery time for Vegas and Astres averages about 48 days. Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. said delivery of its compact and subcompact models is siJt to eight weeks. They include the Pinto, Bobcat, Maverick, Comet and Mustang II. A Chrysler Canada Ltd. spokesman said delivery time for Darts and Valiants is four to sis weeks. He said the situation is not new but has existed for the last year. It is cauaed by increasing demand för small cars and a parts shortage that has affected production., The Ford spokesman said, however, that a customercan Süll get a car the day he buys it if he takes it from the dealer's stock. But most customers order their cars, choosing colors and options. imogiiie OUTSTANUNG SHOE VALUES lamams mmaHsnmm \ j V/' ’•j*'' CiiiVf vt AJ'l R-Sl'tilVfs-'oir ;
