Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - January 15, 1975, Lethbridge, Alberta Wedneiday, January 15, 1975 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD 39 For Only "Pennies" A Serving HOUND DOGS 1 Ib. skinless wieners 1 oz. can Hunt's tomato sauce) 10 strips of sliced process cheese 4 servings of mashed potatoes, instant or homemade Slit wieners lengthwise to make pocket; spoon 1 tsp. Hunt's sauce in each. Place wieners inch apart in 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish; pat mashed potatoes down centre. Top with cheese. Bake at 30 minutes, pour over rest of Hunt's sauce, bake 5 minutes more. Makes 4 to 5 servings. STUFFED BURGER BUNDLES 2V4 cups herb-seasoned bread or cornbread stuffing mix cup milk 1 Ib. juicy burger V4 tsp. salt 1 oz.) can Hunt's tomato sauce with onions cup water 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Vb tsp. leaf rosemary Add Vz cup stuffing mix to milk, combine with beef and salt; mix. Divide into 6 equal portions; form into thin 5-inch patties. Meanwhile, prepare re- maining stuffing mix according to package directions. Mound equal por- tions in centre of each meat patty; form meat into ball around stuffing and seal. Bake in 2-quart baking dish at 20 minutes; drain fat. Pour on Hunt's sauce mixed with water, Worcestershire and rosemary; bake 15 minutes longer. Makes 4 to 6 servings. STEAK 'N'ONION SANDWICHES 1 medium onion, sliced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tbsp. salad oil 1 (7V? oz.) can Hunt's tomato sauce with cheese Vt cup water tsp. sugar Vz tsp. salt tsp. basil tsp. pepper 8 beef steakettes 4 slices French bread, toasted Cook onion and garlic in salad oil. Add Hunt's sauce, water, sugar, salt, basil and pepper; simmer 5 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, fry or broil steakettes to desired doneness. Place on bread slices and spoon sauce over. Makes 4 servings.
