Lethbridge Herald (Newspaper) - January 13, 1913, Lethbridge, Alberta Page 6 THE -LETHBKIDGE DAILY HERALD Monday, January 13,1913 THE YOUTHFUL WHITE HOPE KING With Fifteen Minutes Rest Between Fights Jack Johnson Says He Can Beat McCarty, Willard and Palzer in One Ring-He's Training Chicago, Jan. 11.-.Tack Johnson has started training in Chicago. The lighter who beat Tommy Burns for the heavyweight championship of the world and defended his title successfully against Jim Jefferies and Jim Flynn, and who still holds that title, has been idle since his fight with Flj-nn last July 4th. During a long distance telephone conversation Johnson said that ha has started training and will be ready in a short time to take on any of the white hopes. He said he wculd give further information in a letter and last night's mail brought the message. Referring to the heavyweight championship the title holder says: "As far as McCarty and Pal.er fighting for the championship-it is absurd. .McCarty may be a wonderTui boxer tmt 1 bet ?10,000 that I can beat McCarty, Palzer and Willard in the same ring and take on one In minutes after defeating the other, and I am not bragging when I say this, as you know that everything that I ever said concerning myself about boxing has come just 30 true. When I fought Jeffries I told the public just how the bout would come out. The same applies to Burns and Flynn and all the others. "I hope that the American public will forget some of the things that have been said about Johnson and let some of the "black hopes" tand "white hopes" meet Johnson and fight it out and let the best man win. Yours truly. Champion Jack Johnson." * LOCAL HOCKEY CLUB > ?
