Danish communist leader dies COPENHAGEN Aksel Larsen. long-time leader of Danish communism who wrecked the party after the So- viet repression of the Hungarian Revolution, died in bos p 11 a 1 here. He was 74 and the -oldest member of the Folketing, Den- mark's parliament. Larsen, once considered an ardent Stalinist, led the Danish Communist party for 26 years and built it to a peak of parlia- mentary strength after the Sec- ond World War. But in 1956 he denounced the Soviet repression of the Hungarian revolution, and two years later the party expelled him as a revisionist. Larsen struck back in 1960, forming a new Socialist Peo- ple's Party that won 11 seats in parliament and wiped out the Communists. It maintained a democratic Marxist line. Typhoon Kit death toll rises MANILA (AP) The death toll from Typhoon Kit rose to at least 43 following reports today of 21 more dead In two islands in the central Philippines. Leyte Island was hardest hit when the storm battered the re- gion with 118-m i 1 e -a n -h o u r winds Friday night. The mayor of Baybay, on tiie western end of the island, said 20 persons were drowned and were left homeless by floods raising more than six feet. The-Red Cross confirmed ear- lier reports that 22 persons killed in Abuyog on Leyte. It had initial reports from Samar, adjoining Leyte, that one person was drowned and families driven from their homes.
