Miss Moore won hers as Fe- male Star of the Year and MKS Duncan as Female New- comer of the Year. The ceremonies took place the Beverly Hills Hotel. Site of Winter Olympics THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, Sapporo "The City of Youth" Sapporo, tie prefecture] cap- ital of Hokkaido the northern- most of Japan's four main is- lands, is the site of the XI Winter Olympics, which will be covered by the NBC Television Network via satellite in color (Feb. 2-135. Although Sapporo is the cen- tre of political, economic and cultural life on Hokkaido, the city is only 103 yars old. It is little more than an hour's jet flight from Tokyo, is approxi- mately 400 miles due east of Vladivostok, Russia, and is roughly on the same latitude as Detroit and Buffalo. About the size of Maine, the island of Hokkaido has 5.4 mil- lion inhabitants who represent five per cent of Japan's total population. Herman Wedemeryer, 'who plays Duke, the liaison between the special unit and the Honolulu Police Department, is scheduled lot more frequent appearances.
