About have been approved but the approvals already have eaten up 40 per cent of the fund. National Director Robert Bryden said Thursday it appears that "a lot of good applications will have to be turned down" for lack ot money. He said in an interview the funds committed so far would produce jobs. At a cost of a job, it might be "sensible" to consider increasing the million fund. Manpower Minister Otto Lang has said the government hasn't decided whether or not to enlarge the fund. He admitted that applications are outstripping the funds available. More than applications have come from private community groups. But the first 750 to be approved have eaten million of the million available to them. Mr. Bryden said funds were pumped out quickly in this area to create jobs as early in the winter as possible. Municipal applications have been slower to win aporoval because of red tape. Provincial authorities must endorse them first. Of so far, 320 have been approved accounting for million of the other ?50 million. But the pace is expected to quicken now, Mr. Bryden said. Largest grant so far is for a recreation and tourist centre at St. Damase Sud, Que., near Rimouski. Construction will create 166 jobs and the centre will employ 50 to 75 persons on a part-time basis when complete. LICENCED MALt HELP FULLY INSURED TREE 32B-209X.
