Actor kicks Oscar in golden pants By BOB THOMAS HOLLYWOOD (AP) - Can an actor talk himself out of an Academy Award? Perhaps so- if the actor happans to be a fiery rebel like George C. Scott. Scott kicked Oscar in his golden pants this week by requesting for the second time in his career that his name be withdrawn from the list of nominees for best actor for his performance in Patton. "I simply do not wish to be involved," the actor said in Spain, where he is making a film. Said a longtime colleague of Scott: "Isn't that just like George? He could have won the Oscar in a walk. The criminal and civil legal aid plan is expected to be about $53,000 in debt by the end of the fiscal year next month, he said in an interview. As well, a proposed budget of $800,000 for the 1971-72 fiscal year, up from $600,000 this year, now is not expected to satisfy the demand for services. "We are having to refuse cases'" daily," Mr. Morris said. "And next year - March 1971 to March 1972 - we'll have to cut down even more on civil legal aid or there won't be enough money for such serious offences as murder, rape, breaking and entering." Aid in civil cases was introduced in the province last summer. Sesame street debuts LONDON (AP) - Sesame Street will make its British debut next month on Harlech Television, one of Britain's independent commercial companies. Harlech, which has four million viewers in Wales and western England, said it would show the children's program for two weeks to see if British kids like it. If they do, the nationwide commercial network will take it over. The British Broadcasting Corp. didn't think the program would go over and turned it down. Murder-suicide suspected in deaths FORT MacKAY (CP) - Police suspect a murder-suicide in the deaths of Theresa Mac-Donald, 47, and her husband, Alex, 44, of Fort MacKay, found dead in their home, about 255 miles northeast of Edmonton. Police said the woman appeared to have been beaten to death and the man had been hanged. PARIS (Reuter) - French humorist Alexandre Breffort, 70, author of the worldwide musical hit Irma La Douce, has died at his Paris home, it was announced. Breffort's play about a big-hearted Paris prostitute was one of several theatrical comedies he wrote as a sideline for his full-time job as a staff writer for the Canard Enchaine, the highly-regarded Paris satirical weekly.
