Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 22, 1975, Lethbridge, Alberta Saturday, February 22, 1975 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD 15 V 4, .M T V A-a-r-r-r-g-g! The task is disgustingly simple. Lift a steel bar that is loaded with steel plates above the head at arms length using two techniques, the snatch and the clear and jerk. What complicates things is that the bar with steel plates weighs twice your body weight, and often more than that. Here is how several weightlifters battled that weighty complication'at the Yates Memorial Centre Friday. Above, Doug Miller of Sask- atchewan topples dangerously. Left, disgusted Oleh Markiw-of Alberta. Right, Doug Miller be- fore the near disaster lift pictured above. Far right, Marcel Lapointe, Quebec, appears to be expecting some stroke of strength from some- where. Immediately below Alain Brenaut, Sask- atchewan, hoists it up.
