Miss English told about 100 teachers attending 'the northeast teachers convention that everyone has tried to es- cape facing education costs squarely, including teachers. .But to change any attitudes not only those of the public but those of teachers teachers as a group must be willing to boldly say education is and should be expensive. "We usually say it in a nice little whisper." Teachers must say if it lakes money lo meet certain requirements and changes such as inflation; it must be spent, she said. Miss English told the teachers that Alberta is a long way from a high budget in education. Yet society keeps calling on teachers to assume more and more responsibility, she added. "This attitude makes it easy to downplay the cost."
