Lethbridge Herald (Newspaper) - February 21, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta 32 - THE LETHBR1DGE HERALD - Wednesday, February 21, 1973 --- survey, and include the extension thereof in accordance with said system. The bank of a river is referred to as the right or left bank, according to whether it is to the right or left respectively on facing downstream. Each district includes all Indian reserves within its described boundary. The population figures of each electoral district are taken from the 1971 decennial census. 1. ATHABASCA consists of: (a) all that portion of the Province lying north of the north boundary of township sixty-four (64), and east of a line described as follows (all ranges mentioned for this west boundary lie west of the fifth (5th) meridian): starting at the northeast corner of township sixty-four (64), range fourteen (14); thence north along the east boundary of range fourteen (14) to the northeast corner of township eighty-eight (88); thence east to the northeast corner of township eighty-eight (88), range seven (7); thence, north along the east boundary of range seven (7) to the northeast corner of township one hundred and twenty (120); thence west to the northeast corner of township one hundred and twenty (120), range ten (10); thence north along the east boundary of range ten (10) to the north boundary of the Province; (b) all that portion included in townships sixty-two (62) to sixty-four (64) in ranges one (1) to twenty-four (24). west of the fourth (4th) meridian: (c) all that portion lying north of the left bank of the North Saskatchewan , River in townships fifty-three (53) to sixty-one (61). ranges one (1) to nineteen (19), west of the fourth (4th) meridian. (Population: 75,085) 2. BANFF-DRUMHELLER consists of all that portion of the Province described as follows: starting from the point in range sixteen (16), west of the fourth (4th) meridian, where the north boundary of township fifteen (15) intersects the left bank of the Bow River; thence west along the north boundary of township fifteen (15) to the Interprovincial Boundary; thence northwesterly along the Interprovincial Boundary to the southerly boundary of Jasper National Park; thence northeasterly along the common boundary between Jasper and Banff National Parks to its easterly limit in township thirty-seven (37), range twenty-two (22), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence southeasterly along the boundary of the Banff National Park to the north boundary of township thirty-four (34). range nineteen (19), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence east along the north boundary of township thirty-four (34) to the northeast corner of said township in range eighteen (18), west of the fourth (4th) meridian; thence south along the east boundary of said range eighteen (18) to the north boundary of township twenty-six (26); thence west to the northeast corner of township twenty-six (26), range nineteen (19), west of the fourth (4th) meridian; thence south along the east boundary of range nineteen (19) to the southeast corner of township twenty-one (21); thence west to the left bank of the Bow River; thence downstream following said left bank to the starting point; excluded from Banff-Drumheller is all that area included within, the boundaries of the Corporation of the City of Calgary as they existed in April 1972. (Population: 87,292) 3. BATTLE RIVER consists of all that, portion of the Province lying south of the left bank of the North Saskatchewan River, north of the north boundary of township thirty-six (36), and east of a line described as follows (all ranges mentioned lie west of the fourth (4th) meridian): starting at the southeast corner of section five (5), township thirty-seven (37), range sixteen (16); thence north along the east boundary of said section five (5) and the corresponding section line in townships thirty-seven (37) to forty-one (41) to the Battle River;.thence upstream following the Battle River to the north boundary of township forty-one (41). Tange seventeen (17); thence west to the northeast corner of said township in range twenty-three (23): thence north along the east boundary of range twenty-three (23) to the south boundary of township fifty-one (51); thence east along the south boundary of township fifty-one (51), following the notth shore of Lake Ministik wherever encountered, to the southeast corner of township fifty-one (51),.range twenty-one (21); thence north along the east boundary of range twenty-one (21) to the left bank of the North Saskatchewan River. (Population: 94,886) 4. CALGARY CENTRE is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the intersection of Twenty-four (24) Street NW and Sixteen (16) Avenue NW;.thence east along Sixteen (16) Avenue NW and NE to the  centre line of the Canadian Pacific Railway; thence southerly along the centre line of said railway to the left bank of the Bow River; thence upstream following said left bank to a point opposite the upstream extremity of St. Patrick Island; thence across to the right bank of the Bow River and downstream following said right bank to the junction of the Elbow River; thence upstream following the left bank of the Elbow River to the bridge to Twenty-six (26) Avenue SE; thence east across the bridge and along Twenty-six (26) Avenue SE to its intersection with the north prolongation of First (1st) Street SE; thence south along said 4 prolongation and southerly along First (1st) Street SE to Thirty-four (34) Avenue SE; thence westerly along Thirty-four (34) Avenue SE to Mission Road; thence westerly along Mission Road to Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW; thence west along Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW and its west prolongation to the left bank of the Elbow River; thence upstream following the left bank of said river to Eight (8) Street SW; thence north along Eight (8) Street SW to Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW; thence west along Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW to Fourteen (14) Street SW; thence north along Fourteen (14) Street SW to Seventeen (17) Avenue SW; thence west along Seventeen (17) Avenue SW to Twenty-four (24) Street SW; thence north along Twenty-four (24) Street SW and its north prolongation across the Bow River to Twenty-four (24) Street NW; thence north along Twenty-four (24) Street NW to the starting point. (Population: 81,197) 5. CALGARY EAST is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the point where the east or final loop of Nose Creek intersects the north boundary of section eleven (11), township twenty-five (25), range one (3), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence east to the northeast corner of said section; thence north to the northeast corner of section fourteen (14) of said township; thence east to the northeast.corner of section fourteen (14), township twenty-five (25), range twenty-nine (29), west of the fourth (4th) meridian; thence south to the northeast corner of section two (2), township twenty-three (23), range twenty-nine (29), west of the fourth (4th) meridian; thence west to the northeast corner of section four (4) of said township; thence south to the southeast corner of said section four (4); thence west to the right bank of the Bow River; thence upstream following the right bank of said river to the point where the east prolongation of Anderson Road intersects the right bank of the Bow River; thence west to Anderson Road, and along said road to the centre line of the Canadian Pacific Railway; thence northerly along the centre line of said railway to Macleod Trail; thence northerly along Macleod Trail to Fifty (50) Avenue SW; thence west along Fifty (50) Avenue SW to Four (4) Street SW; thence north along Four (4) Street SW and its north prolongation to the left bank of the Elbow River; thence downstream following the left bank of said river to its intersection with the west prolongation of Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW; thence east along said prolongation and Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW to Mission Road; thence easterly along Mission Road to Thirty-four (34) Avenue SE; thence easterly along Thirty-four (34) Avenue SE to First (1st) Street SE; thence northerly along First (1st) Street SE and its north prolongation to Twenty-six (26) Avenue SE; thence west along Twenty-six (26) Avenue SE across the bridge to the left bank of the Elbow River; thence downstream following the left bank of said river to its junction with the right bank of the Bow River; thence upstream following the right bank of the Bow River to a point opposite the upstream extremity of St. Patrick Island; thence across to the left bank of the Bow River and downstream following the left bank to the centre line of the Canadian Pacific Railway; thence northerly along the centre line of said railway to Sixteen (16) Avenue NE; thence west along Sixteen (16) Avenue NE to Six (6) Street NE; thence north to Twenty-four (24) Avenue NE; thence east along said avenue and its prolongation to Nose Creek; thence upstream following Nose Creek to the starting point. (Population: 84,827) 6. CALGARY NORTH is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the point where the east or final loop of Nose Creek intersects the north boundary of section eleven (1 1), township twenty-five (25), range one (1), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence downstream following Nose Creek to its intersection with the east prolongation of Twenty-four (24) Avenue NE; thence west along said prolongation and Twenty-four (24) Avenue NE to Six (6) Street NE; thence south to Sixteen (16) Avenue NE; thence west along Sixteen (16) Avenue NE and NW to Twenty-four (24) Street NW; thence north along Twenty-four (24) Street NW to the Crowchild Trail; thence northwesterly along the Crowchild Trail to the east boundary of section nine (9), township twenty-five (25), range two (2), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence north to the northeast corner of said section nine (9); thence east to the northeast corner of section seven (7), township twerr.y-five (25), range one (1), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence north to the northeast corner of section eighteen (18) of said township; thence following a course around and through section seventeen (17) of said township, to the southeast corner of said section seventeen (17) in a manner to exclude the northeast quarter of said section; thence east to the starting point. CALGARY SOUTH is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the intersection of Glenmore Trail and Thirty-seven (37) Street SW; thence southeasterly along Glenmore Trail to Twenty-four (24) Street SW; thence north along Twenty-four (24) Street SW to Seventeen (17) Avenue SW; thence east to Fourteen (14) Street SW; thence south to Thirty-four (34) Avenue SW; thence east to Eight (8) Street SW; thence south along Eight (8) Street SW to the left bank of the Elbow River; thence downstream following said left bank to its intersection with:the north prolongation of Four (4) Street SW; thence south along said prolongation and Four (4) Street SW to Fifty (50) Avenue SW; thence east to Macleod Trail and southwesterly along said trail to the centre line of the Canadian Pacific Railway; thence southerly along the centre line of said railway to Anderson Road; thence easterly along Anderson Road and its east prolongation to the right bank of the Bow River; thence downstream following said right bank to the confluence of Fish Creek; thence upstream following said creek to the north boundary of section twenty-five (25), township twenty-two (22), range one (1), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence west to the northeast corner of section twenty-five (25), township twenty-two (22), range two (2), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence north along the east boundary of range two (2) (in parts Thirty-seven (37) Street SW) to the starting point. CALGARY WEST is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the intersection of the Crowchild Trail with the east boundary of section nine (9), township twenty-five (25), range two (2), west of the fifth (5th) meridian, being a point on the west limit of the City of Calgary; thence southeasterly along the Crowchild Trail to Twenty-four (24) Street NW; thence south along Twenty-four (24) Street NW and its south prolongation across the Bow River to Twenty-four (24) Street SW; thence south along Twenty-four (24) Street SW to Glenmore Trail; thence northwesterly along Glenmore Trail to Thirty-seven (37) Street SW; thence south along Thirty-seven (37) Street SW and its south prolongation to the left bank of the Elbow River; thence upstream following the left bank of said river to the south boundary of section three (3), township twenty-four (24), range two (2), west of the fifth (5th) meridian; thence east to the southeast corner of said section three (3); thence north to the northeast corner of section twenty-seven (27) of said township; thence west to the northeast corner of section twenty-eight (28) of said township; thence north along the east boundary of section thirty-three (33) of said township to the small creek which forms the southeast boundary of a golf course; thence northeasterly following said creek to Thirty-three (33) Avenue NW; thence northw�sterly along Thirty-three (33) Avenue NW to the east boundary of Lot twenty-one (21) on the south side of said avenue; thence southwesterly 300 feet to the back property line of Lot twenty-one (21); thence northwesterly along the back property line of Lots twenty-one (21) to three (3) inclusive in Block 45 Plan 5565 A.H.; thence along an irregular back property line of Lots two (2) and one (1); thence north along the centre line of section thirty-three (33), township twenty-four (24), range two (2) and of section four (4), township twenty-five (25), range two (2), to the south channel of the Bow River; thence easterly following the right bank of said channel and its lagoon to a point on the east boundary of section four (4), township twenty-five (25), range two (2), being a point oh the west limit of the City of Calgary; thence northerly along said city limit to the starting point. EDMONTON CENTRE is contained within the boundary described as follows: starting at the intersection of the Groat Road with Stony Plain Road; thence easterly along Stony Plain Road and One hundred and four (104) Avenue to One hundred and one (101) Street; thence north to One hundred and eleven (111) Avenue; thence east to Ninety-seven (97) Street; thence north to the centre line of the Canadian National Railway; thence east along the centre line of said railway to Fifty (50) Street and thence southeasterly along the centre line of said railway to the right bank of the North Saskatchewan River; thence upstream following the right bank of said river to the Groat Road; thence northwesterly along the Groat Road to the starting point. (Population: 90,271) 10.
