The kite flyers were part of the entertainment for the Banff Winter Festival and until their act was shot down, they took off from the top of Mt. Nor-quay's ski slopes and soared to the valley floor near Banff Townsite. Kite flyer Willie Muller of Calgary said he is still confused about the reasons for the ban. "At one stage I was threatened with prosecution because my kite had 'Felice' printed on it . . . and later I was threatened with prosecution because I flew across the Trams-Canada highway." Residents are reminded that all dogs over two 'months old must be licensed as specified In the Town's Dog By-Law and no Dogs are allowed to roam at large, within the Town limits. Magrath Town Council. F63 (L-Saskatchewan) told the Senate. High railway freight costs are "one of the sorest points" in Western alienation, the Saskatchewan senator said, and were responsible for "serious" stagnation in industrial growth, especially in Saskatchewan. He quoted a brief prepared by Manitoba which indicated rates on iron and steel products from Selkirk, Man., to Vancouver are the same as those from Montreal to Vancouver, double the distance. Lower freight rates for unprocessed agricultural products make it too expensive for processing companies to locate and operate in the Prairie provinces, he said. "Western Canada feels it should have an opportunity to industrialize. The way freight rates are affecting the west.... we are in danger of losing those few industries that we now have." Minister shouted down EDMONTON (CP) - Labor Minister Bert Hohol was shouted down by the Credit Gramt-ers Association of Alberta because of a joke. Mr. Hohol was only joking when he referred to credtit investigators who ask enighbors if you beat your wife. But the joke touched a tender nerve at the convention and he was asked to clarify what he'd said. He said, and the meeting of about 80 people drowned him out with objections. "You do knock on my neighbor's door and you do ask him questions about me but not whether I beat my wife," the minister said. "No!" the delegates shouted. "Well, somebody does," Mr. Hohol replied. "An investigating agency, not us!" the convention insisted with raised voices, telling the minister that credit investigations are done for insurance companies, not credit grantors. Earlier in his address to the meeting, Mr. Hohol told the credit granters that the onus is on them to police their ranks and make sure that their members ar honest in telling a customer exactly how much interest will be charged on credit and how much he will have to pay.
