GRANT MacEWAN Vice-regal candidates considered EDMONTON (CP) The Journal says Prime Minister Trudeau's office is considering three prominent local men as candidates for the job of Alberta Lieutenant governor when J. W. Grant MacEwan retires. A spokesman for the prime minister in Ottawa refused comment. The newspaper says that Dr. MacEwan has indicated to the prime minister that he would like to step down by the end of June after serving 8% years as the Queen's representative in Alberta. The traditional term is five years. The Journal says candidates being considered are Fred Jenner, retired president of Jenner Dr. Walter MacKenzie, retiring dean of medicine at the University of Alberta; and Dr. Walter Johns, former president of the University of Alberta. Mr. Jenner also has close ties with the university, serving as chairman of the board of governors since July, 1972.
