Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Uni- fication Church, South Korea, bfficiated last weekend at a mass wedding ceremony in a Seoul gymnasium. Moon wore a glided crown and white embroidered robe as couples from Japan, Korea, the U.S.A. and 17 other countries made vows. WINNIPEG (CP) The Canadian Lutheran World Relief has approved a record total of for develop- ment and relief projects in un- derdeveloped nations throughout the world. At'its annual meeting, the organization earmarked 000 for water supply, re grouping of nomadic families, arid rural development pro- jects in Mauritania, Africa, listed as one of the 25 most un- derdeveloped countries in the world. Bangladesh has been allocated for reconstruction projects, while Ethiopia will receive for famine relief and literacy programs. Other recipients of funds include for a demonstration agricultural extension project in for schooling and hous- ing in the Sudan, for programs at the vocational training and day centres in Hong Kong, and for Palestinian refugee projects in the Middle East. Project costs for 1974 totall- ed Rev. Clifton L. Monk of Winnipeg reported to the meeting international and domestic issues are becoming more closely intertwined. "We are becoming increasingly conscious of our interdependent said Mr. Monk, executive secretary of the Lutheran social services division. "Everything depends on everything." An inter church team that participated as a non governmental agency in the world population conference last year in Bucharest now is looking at a planned United Nations conference on human settlements. Mr. Monk said the inter church group is concerned that the conference, called Habitat '76 and scheduled for ,next year in Vancouver, may be "predetermined in favor of urban inevitability." He said pre conference planning apparently is dominated by builders, physical planners and management type persons, with little apparent concern for farmers, fishermen, northern or native people. "There is silence on rural challenge. Should a church such as ours with a substantial rural community write off our rural people with the assump- tion that rural community life as a life-style is no longer a Brotherhood chairman named Betty Kennedy has accepted the invitation of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews to serve as its 1975 Brotherhood Week Chairman. Mrs. Kennedy succeeds Wayne and Shuster who served as co chairmen last year. Brotherhood Week dates are Feb. 16 23. Promotion of brotherhood and good intergroup relations is indee'd a year round endeavor of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews. The week itself serves two purposes to give people an opportunity to re dedicate themselves as in- dividuals to the basic ideals of respect for people and human rights which are.essential to our way of life; and to dramatize the practical things which people can do to promote an under- standing and realization of these ideals. Mrs. Kennedy has been public affairs editor of CF'RB, Toronto, Canada's largest radio station since 1959. Read your lax Guide. It's worth it. Income Tax. Let's face it. Your Tax Guide also includes an area of general information, a page or two of answers to some common questions and solutions to problems you could encounter while working on your return. 'On the back page you'll find District Taxation Office addresses and telephone numbers if you decide you need more help.
