Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 13, 1975, Lethbridge, Alberta Thuridiy, Ftbtuiry 13, 1975 THE LETHBRIDQE HERALD 11 Day one The air was crisp and frigid but the competition was nothing less than hot at the Canada Winter Games speedskating oval Wednesday. Skaters tried, many in vain, to keep.their feet and legs warm prior to their heats, then they'd push their near-frozen faces into their mitts after their races. And between bouts with the weatherman, they tore around the new oval chasing elusive Games medals. Above Robert Warrender of Al- berta heads for the finish. Above left, Alan Thompson, Prince Edward Island, and falling Neil Tramble of Nova Scotia. The medals were carried by kimono-clad girls, below. Medal winners at left are Jim Johnson, Mani- toba, Pat Quay, Ontario, and Craig Webster, Saskatchewan. The bundled fans are Florence Taal and Florence, Sheilagh and Brigitte Pastoor, all of Lethbridge. That's Lyhe Quirion of the Quebec team trying to'get de- frosted.
