Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 13, 1920, Lethbridge, Alberta AUtfRTA, MENNON1TES BUY TRACT FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1920 Lethbridge Signally Honored A new honor has come to our city. It has cpmo through the, .women .of Alberta to a woman of Lethbridge. Whea the National Council of the 1> 0, p. B. decided on their educational programme a war memorial to our men who went overseas to tho great war, to those who gloriously remained, and to those .who happily were spared to return. It was felt that a permanent committee should bo formed to handle what Is to be a great trust for probably fifteen or twenty years. This committee or board'-consists of throa women inerahVa elected by the order in each province and one university head .from. each province. When the time came to nomln- these members, the Sir Alex- ander.Gait Chapter felt that tho work done by their former Regent, Mrs. J. N. lUlchlo, entitled her to" the honor of being chosen. Ii was foil that Mrs. Ritchie's mag- netic personality combined with her enthusiasm for tho .work of tha specially ntlei her for the post. When tho Major Jack .11033 ant! the Slbokotoki Chapters were consulted they unanimously seconded the nomination. As p. proof of the loyalty and broad'inindediicas of the women yt Alhertn, It Is worth noting that alone has tweaty-lwo chapters or more tiian hat; of all tho chapters In tho province and H they had. been selfish or narrow enough -could have sent nil Ed- monton-delegates. Calgary also has a number of chapters, but both these'cities, feellnt that Leth- bridge and Southern Alberta had done a big work and had done It well, these teat strenuous years, loyally supported the south and the result was that a. telegram was received yesterday announc- ing that Mrs, Ritchie waa one ot tho three women in tha province who headed the poll. It is with great pride that the women of the south send their del- egate to the first meeting of the board which is to be held. In Tor- onto on February 20th, and all Lethbridge will leel an added In- terest In the work when one we .know so well returns to tell us what is being done. The good wishes of alt the 0. D.
