By HELEN HENNESSY NEA Women's Editor NEW YORK Most of Robert David Morton's designs are for evening wear. But he is an innovator as well as a talented designer of beautiful clothes. For the fabric he chooses to work with is Lycra a fabric most of us think of as being used only for bras and girdles. But what great results he gets. The fabric clings in all the right places and drapes as beautifully as chiffon. "I don't believe in these funky lengths, Morton said. "I design for women and our way of life here in America. Life here is centered in the suburbs not in the cities anymore." Morton creates his own colors, too. And this fabric takes beautifully to both brilliant jewel tones and to pastels. This designer's current line is one to be proud of. Even the feel of the clothes is both comfortable and luxurious. They're a pleasure to touch and to wear. Not often I expect as most people agree that a salad without salad dressing is lacking something. In a salad, the dressing serves two adds flavor and it binds the ingredients together. So let's do some mixing and matching. WHICH DRESSING? Choose your salad dressings with discretion and use them to give that little unexpected lift to your special salad. To match salads and dressings, follow this little tip if it has an appealing appearance and flavor, it's a good combination. More definite guidelines follow. Appetizer salads are used to whet the use a light dressing, not a heavy one, a tart, spicy dressing, not a sweet one. An oil and vinegar dressing or fruit juices are perfect here. Side dish or main dish salads can use a great variety of delicious dressings from light to heavy and from mild to spicy let the ingredients in the salad dictate the correct dressings to use. Dessert salad dressings may vary from sweet to do you like best? SALAD vs. DRESSING Which flavor do you want to salad or the dressing? If the salad is a rather simple one (in flavor) perk it up with a tasty dressing; but if the salad has an interesting flavor on its own, why not use a simple dressing to bring out the salad flavors and subtly blend them? BOUGHT vs. HOME MADE There certainly are many varieties of prepared salad dressings on the grocery store shelf but let's not start thinking that home made ones are no longer fashionable. Give your imagination a work-out and try some on your own. Take a basic recipe and add your personality and individuality by using your favorite spices, seeds, whatever. If you can't think of anything exciting try the recipe below, then let inspiration be your guide. French Dressing 1 cap salad oil 'A cap orange juice 3 Tablespoons lemon juice 1 Tablespoon vinegar cap sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon grated onion Mix all ingredients in a container which can be closed tightly. Cover and shake vigorously. Chill shake again before serving. Makes about 1 cups. NUDE "TfcNDER The super sheer pantyhose Sheer from waist to toe.
