Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 10, 1975, Lethbridge, Alberta Monday, February 10, 197S THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD 21 A symbol of hospitality The pheasant Pharley Q. by designation was chosen as the official animated symbol for the 1975 Canada Winter Games. The pheasant is an appropriate symbol for Southern Alberta being one of the main "game birds" of this area. He is shown in five colors and depicts the 16 sports which are involved in the Games. The 16 poses are dis- tinctly unique and are a characterization developed by Lethbridge artist John Siderenko. It is the belief of the Games, officials that "Pharley Q. Pheasant" will convey the warmth, humor, and overall sincere western hospitality which is indicative of the peo- ple of Southern Alberta. Pharley Q. Pheasant, as a symbol, is registered and copyrighted, and can only be used in advertising and promotion with the express consent of the 1975 Canada Winter Games Society. The animated symbol and the of- ficial logo is available in the form of souvenirs and other merchandise items. NORTH WEST TERRITORY DAY! BRITISH COLUMBIA DAYI ALBERTA SASKATCHEWAN MANITOBA DAY! DAY!
