Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 10, 1975, Lethbridge, Alberta 6 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD Monday, February 10, 1975 The Games in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta are indeed Cana- dian Games. Representatives from each of the Provinces and Territories visited Lethbridge on October 30th and 31st to discuss how the Games will be conducted and how their athletes will be treated. The invitation to confer was issued by the Society in the belief that we should seek advice from those who shall send teams and to iron out any difficulties, early. It is the Society's responsibility to stage the Games they have that mandate but the Games will be better run and more fun for all if the rules of conduct are explored, adjusted and agreed upon before serious competition begins. In most areas there was consen- sus; in other areas, delegates accepted the decision of the sports technical advisory board of the society. It was a good meeting. Discus- sion was amicable and construc- tive. Before leaving, the delegates viewed the Sportsplex and the Stan Siwik Pool. In the West, the Crowsnest Consolidated High School will host the Volleyball competition. The foothills of the Rockies provide for a pic- turesque background for the Westcastle Recreation Resort. Alpine Skiing will be the competitive event staged here. Skiing shall also be taking place at Cas- tle River Ranger Station and in-Devon. They will host cross country and ski jumping respectively. The excitement of Hockey will be found in the Pincher 'Creek Memorial Community Centre. The resounding slapshot of hockey shall be heard at the Kainai Sports Centre in, Standoff.
