An industry department spokesman said Monday the de- partment is looking al the im- pact of tha Rolls-Royce failure on Locklieed, Rolls-Royre was building the RB-211 engine for Lockheed's TriStar wide-bodied jet aircraft. Erik Nelson, managing direc- tor of Lcckheed in Canada, said Monday the Rolls-Royce situa- tion is still uncertain. He has passed on requests by Canadian companies for additional sub- contracts fcr Rolls-Royce en- gine parts to the Lockheed par- ent company ip Burbank, Cali- fornia. Canadian companies have about million in contracts for the TriStar. Almost all is for airframe components though Orenda Ltd. of Malton, Ont, has a subcontract for about S5 million for Rolls-Royce engines. Fred Mitchell, president of Orenda Ltd., said his engine factory has no plans to build the Rolls-Royce RB-211 engine. He said if the engine was to be built in Canada "Orenda would be the key in this project and we should know if anything was planned and we don't."
