Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - February 5, 1972, Lethbridge, Alberta THI IETHBRIDGE HERALD Saturday, February 5, 1971 Canadian Him show in France POITIERS, France (Rcuter) Canadian Ambassador Leo Cadicux inaugurated Friday a week-long festival of Canadian films which one organizer said would put Canada's name at the inn nf thfl world's film-making countries. The festival was organized as the main part of the Cinema Days of Poitiers which each year spotlights the film industry of a different country. Concurrently, the city of Po- itiers has chosen the occasion to highlight the many links which tie the Poitou' province to the French-speaking population of Canada, many of whom are de- scendants of'Poitevin settlers. The festival, which continues to Thursday, will include the presentation of some 25 full- length Canadian feature films, most of them unknown in Eu- rope. Marc Laville, the French del- egate-general to the festival, said the presentation of full- length Canadian films in Eur- ope the Canadian cin- ema's impact has been mainly in be a true rev- elation. "In two or three years time, the Canadian cinema will oc- cupy the place on the world scene that was occupied pre- viously by the Poles and the Czechs as one of the most imag- inative cinema in the he said.
