It's no longer fiddle and banjo in counry music Ray Price brought the violin to country music not the fiddle but the violin. Price is in the forefront of the grad- ual musical transition from the "fiddle and banjo" to a larger musical concept that includes horns, woodwind and other in- struments. Michael Steele, pro- ducer-direc tor of Nashville North, hired four violin play- ers from Toronto's outstanding Symphony Orchestra to help enhance Price's special voca quality. Long synonymous as a country vocalist, Price has also been described as a "great bal- lad singer." On Tuesday, February 9 p.m., Ray Price joins fellow guests Sylvia Tyson and Tranquillity Base, host Ian Ty son and The Great Speckled Bird for CTV's Nashville North.
