He made the statement that the company now has three wells sunk on its property, which consists of 16.000 acres or coal and oil lands near the national boundary line, aby assumed the position of the Vancouver Petroleum Syndicate as a parent organization, and has since Hi'Muuvd al the assets of two com-paniod and a controlling interest in a third, of which the aggregate capitalization was S(5,5UO,OUO, and has also acquired the oil landB of sixteen pvivato individuals us well. It will be seen from the above that the company which contemplates building the line to Macleod is strong financially and is able to fulfil its promises, and according to the information given by Mr. Ferguson this company has passed the development stage as the indications are daily growing stronger that tho field at Waterton Lake, where the wells that will supply the oil for the refinery are are located, give strong indications of a big flow and will fully come up to the most sanguine expectations of the company and the citi I zens of Macleod. Thieves at Work. Thieves have been prowling about the town lately. On Wednesday night the Massey-Harris offices and the News office were! broken into and thoroughly ransacked, but, in neither instance, are loses reported. Entrance was gained at tho Massey-Harris office by forcing a window. The till was opened but as the cash had been deposited, the burglars had to leave, without securing a nickel. Papers were strewn about, but none were taken away. At the News office, the cash box was empty too, but the prowlers left traces of their presence by scattering letters and the like about. A number of citizens report their clothes lines have been robbed of wearing apparel. Evidently the same gang is working in tho offices and about the back yards. Failing to secure the coin, they are doing the next best thing, in stealing clothes to cover their bodies. It is to be hoped the rascals will be captured and punished. Saunders was summoned into one of tho rooms of the Dallas to sign a paper but he found to his surprise there was no need for using a pun or pencil Instead ho had to stand up and listento the praises of hiB worth and popularity from the Knights of Pythias, of which he was an honored member. But that was not all. He was given a beautiful gold watch also, and "Si." found the "mainspring" of thought wouldn't work, but the smile that wreathed his countenance told the Knights that he valued the gift mora than words could tell.
