Happy Holiday! FANTIN'S CHAPELS LTD. Prop., ERNEST FANTIN BLAIRMORE ALBERTA GREETINGS In many areas the country, a "White Christmas" brings added joy to the hearts of young ami old alike. Our wish for evep'one in the community is the kind of a Christmas that make yon happi- est. Candle Long Part Of German Tree Germans used to look on their Christmas trees with pride and even a little awe. They were a beautiful sight No store bought colored balls, just dozens ot candles burning bright and warm. Not so long ago the Fire Department campaigned against tree candles, and in- sisted of the danger and fire hazard. German families have begun to follow the American custom of using colored lights and even packaged dec- orations. They still grumble about it, but the number of Christmas. Eve fires has dropped dramatically, ac- cording to Fire Departmerit figures. Unlike American custom, the German Christmas tree is never displayed before Christ- mas Eve and never placed on the lawn in front of the house. While many of us enjoy the warmth and love of family and friends at Christmas time, the lonely and unwanted do nol have this privilege. But they are not forgotten, for the men and women of The Salvation Army love and care for the less fortunate in our community. Our Christmas wish is that they be filled with extreme Happiness for you and your family. JOHN'S BARBER SHOP Prop., JOHN V1GNA BLAIRMORE, ALBERTA bratc the birth of Christ. Most fathers tonight arc sit- ting at homo, thankful that their families have come home for the Cliristmas celebration. Father is also happy that he has been able to provide (he many items that go towards making n happy Christmas. Most of all he is thankful that OUR OWN SPIRIT Each year as the Christ- mas season approaches we think back of uur own ciiilu- hood Christmascs and remember the innocent, un- complicated joy we fell and how eagerly we awaited the great day. Now, as adults, still look forward to Christmas with anticipation but with a deeper feeling as a brief period of peace and serenity a promise of love and good will that perhaps will someday prevail in a world that is now filled with violence and chaos, ft is n joyous season to be shared with family and friends and we celebrate around a beautiful table set with our finest china and silver. The most memorable part of Christmas, however, may well be the part we cannot see or touch, the spirit of love and perpetual hope we nil have. lu's family is all together In good health and lacking very few of the necessities of life, lie is also grateful that he is in a country free from war and able to practise ones' belief without problems. Steady work at the coal mines, the sawmills, (he manu- facturing plants and other in- dustries in the area has made it possible for 7iearly everyone in the 'Pass to be financially able this year to provide the necessities and some luxuries to help mark the holiday sea- son. Best present The best present a wife can give her "tension trapped" hus- band is a hobby, according to Dr. Albert Freeman, a Bever- ly Hills psychologist. Preferab- ly it should be a non- frustrating one that requires the use of his hands and some concentration that can be en- joyed in the family environ- ment. Army makes sure Many people cannot look for- ward to happy reunions with their families at Christmas. These are the inmates of pris- ons, the elderly in nursing homes, the sick in hospitals and other institutions which The Salvation Army visits every Christmas to make sure that those who are so often forgot- ten, are remembered on this special day.
