C3661-tf School vandals sought TABER (HNS1) Taber school division's board stood firm on its stated policy "that students are required to main- tain a high standard of dress in their choice of clothing to be worn at school." The executive of the W. R. Myers High School students' union questioned a statement by the board concerning dam- age in the high school. In the lunchroom tables had been pushed through the plas- ter walls. The board had ad- vised the students organization that if the culprits are not, found, the damage would be charged to the students' union. The students objected, suggest- ing a 52 "caution fee" be col- lected from each student against such possible vandal- ism. A meeting was set up for two trustees, representatives of the teaching staff, and two mem- bers of the students' council, place and date to be deter- mined. Students' union rice presi- dent Dennis KunimoU) asked the study include reasons van- dalism is on the increase. Principal Jim George also attended tho meeting. Suddenly, tens of thousands of pieces of Christmas mail are pouring in for the stricken seven-year-old. "There are at least cards and letters so far and we expect lots more; this is said Stephen Ja- kobowski, postmaster of this Detroit suburb of The flood of mail followed the widespread publication of news reports early last week telling how the sick boy's eyes lighted up when the postman brought him infrequent let- ters. Bobby is in the last stages of a hereditary muscular dis- order, Werdnig-Hoffman para- lysis, which has left his 24- pound body a limp stick, strapped in a wheelchair. He has lived two years longer than doctors expected and they say this probably will be his last Christmas. "A week ago he was so lighted to see just his own name on a Christmas card or said Bobby's mother, Mrs. Ralph Miller, 25. "Now this. We can't believe it. Farm operation receipts drop OTTAWA (CP) Total cash receipts from farming opera- tions in all provinces except Newfoundland were mil- lion in the first nine months of 1970, the Dominion Bureau oi Statistics reported today. This was down almost two per cent from million re- ceived from farming operations in the same period last year, despite higher returns for wheat, barley, rapeseed, pota- toes, tobacco, hogs, cattle and calves. The bureau said the was mainly caused by substan- tial repayments of cash ad- vances on farm-stored grains in Western Canada paid out to farmers in earlier years. There was also a considerable de- crease in wheat board participa- tion the distribution of wheat board receipts in addi- tion to base prices paid farm- ers.
