Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - December 22, 1971, Lethbridge, Alberta Dnc.mber M, 1971 THE IFTHBRIDCe HERAID 21 Ann Landers AIR CANADA'S FIRST FASHION COORDINATOR Phyllis Amoruso has been named Air Canada's first internal fashion coordinator 'or in-flight service. The ap- pointment is the first step in a program to introduce a new look of fashion for in-flight personnel, as shown here in the new jackets designed to be used by pursers on flights to the Carribaen. Coordinated wardrobes for the airline stewardesses are scheduled for early next summer. Winsome wardrobe for stewardesses MONTREAL (CP) Off with the uniforms, on with a win- some wardrobe is the word for Air Canada hostesses, says 23- year-old Phyllis Amoruso. the airline's first fashion co-ordina- tor for in-flight services. Starting next spring, steward- esses will take to the air ill a variety of ensembles designed to meet individual lifestyles and incorporating "something suita- ble for every age-group and fig- ure." Emphasis will be (in excell- ence in materials, cut and de- sign as well as versatility in mbc-and-match outfits high- lighted with scarves, jewelry and a personal approach in make-up. Styles will be modified contin- uously as different crews exper- iment with various outfits for comfort fashion flair. "Handbags, for example. Would be roomy enough to hold all the items a stewardess needs during flight, but not ugly and says Phyllis. "And it's easy to design a stylish but comfortabl. working shoe." The changes will he gradual but the focus will stay on a con- tinually evolving career ward- robe. "We are not little says Phyllis whose background in the airline business ncludes six years ES a stewardess and in- flight supervisor. "The image we intend to pro- ject will be based on good fash- ion sense with a flair, keyed to future trends as well as current styles." DEAR ANN LANDERS: Our children were brought up the idea that everyone who lives in the te docs his ihaic of work It was expected and there was no arguing. three oWest who are grown and named seen, to have the idea that they can come home to Ma and Pas and enjoy a free, leisurely vacation. They arrive with their families and plop themselves on us "for a rest." The grocery bills are double and so is the work They sleep all morning and I have to run after their kids bathe and feed them. We still have too children it home and Uiey resent this extra burden. Frankly, so do I Please tell a very tired mother who is pushing 55 what to do about her problem.-No Martyr In Lancaster DEAR NO M Apparently Uie job of training your chil- dren is not finished. Even married children can learn-and J you teach them. The lesson is as follows: The Old Homestead is not a hotel. When you return for a vacation you pilch in-just as you did when you lived here. And you take care of your own kids-like you do at home. End of lesson, Confidential To Will It Change No. A wedding li- cense can no more guarantee that a woman will be faithful than a fishing license can guarantee that you'll catch fish. Lotsa luck. I think you'll need it t DEAR ANN LANDERS: There is this bleached blonde who talked my husband into taking up square dancing. In the close proximity of this fun pastime, she applied a little body English and they went from square dancing to iove-malang. 1 could see the sparks flying but I figured it was a harmless nutation and would soon wear off. So we went on square dancing and I kept fooling myself because he insisted it was wonderful eXelThree weeks ago I caught them in a station wagon, of all places. It just about killed me. My husband and I had a long talk. He says he doesn't know how it all happened. He doesn't want a divorce or a separation. We've been married nearly 30 years and have never had any trouble. The blonde is also married and is not looking to break up her home either. The problem is that my husband wants to continue square dancing and I say nothing doing. What is your advice? -Billings DEAR BILL: In view of the circumstances, your husband should be willing to hang up his dancing slippers and get his exercise some other way. As for suggest that you for- get the whole thing and try a little body English of your own. SOLD SLAVES MAKURDI, Nigeria (AP) Three farmers were sentenced to nine years in prison and fined ?150 each for selling their pre- teen daughters into slavery, THE BETTER HALF By Bob Barnes "I found where my husband hid his Christmas gift to me. ..Is it too early to exchange DEAR ANN LANDERS: Several of my friends were dis- cussing the letter from the mother who said she was getting a great deal more pleasure out of her poodles than her two married children. My friends were sin-prised. I wasn't. I know what goes on with pets in this country and it's disgraceful. Last summer we travelled a lot. One day when the maid came in to make up our beds the bathroom door was closed. She asked, "Is there a dog in When 1 said "No" she heaved a sigh of relief and told us that she had been bitten by dogs and scratched by of hotel guests who had shut them tip in the bathroom and neglected to tell her that they were there. She also described what tense animals did to the rugs, bedspreads and furniture. It was disgusting. We witnessed one scene I'll never forget. A mother and father were swimming in a shallow river with their three small children and the family dog. They were short one life jacket, so the oldest kid, about 11, didn't get a jacket. The mult had one, however. That same family spent the night in the motel room next to ours and the mutt howled until a.m. My hat is off to all hotel and motel managers who say: "No Dogs Allowed." Ky. DEAR BARB: Make that two hate. Thanks for writing. DEAR ANN LANDERS: I am addressing this to one of those man ied-in-name-only women. Has your husband stop- ped begging for your favors because you froze him out long ago with your backaches, your headaches, your stock ex- kids will hear. It's too late. It's too early." If you see yourself in this letter you should know that your husband hasn't simply dried up a.nd stopped living. He has a charming, willing, exciting friend. Me. Of course I would rather be a wife than a mistress, but both my lovers (yes, I have two) are in no position to marry and I am settling for whatever I can get. Neither man knows about the other and there's no reason they should. I see Mr. A. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Mr. B. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I am not a kept woman. My alimony from my ex-husband is substantial and I am a part-time model. These two men contribute to my emotional good health as well as to my wardrobe, my jewellery box and Uie wine cellar. 1 contribute to their physical well-being and their mental health. So you see, everybody gains. Even you. Since obviously what you want most is to be left alone. ciate Name Lndy DEAR LADY: No Name? That's what YOU think. You have a name, but the paper wouldn't print it. How nice that you have Sunday off. A routine like yours could kill a girl. I have no advice for you, but I think you should know that everything has a price and you'll be paying up one of these davs. Be sure to place your special orders early to ovoid disappointment!
